Bowen, Jr. William E., 92 of Cranston, passed peacefully Sunday, 11/14/2021, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. Born in Warwick, RI, he was the son of the late William, Sr and Florence (Albro) Bowen. He was the husband of the late Louise L. (Larkin) Bowen.

Mr. Bowen was a veteran of the Korean War and served our country proudly as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps.

Mr. Bowen was one of the original employees of the Narragansett Brewery and worked there until it closed in 1981. He was then employed by Hospital Trust Bank as a Lighting Engineer and Boiler Tender until retirement. After retirement, he volunteered for several years at the RI Food Bank. He spent many years as a member of the RI Clodhoppers and Friendly Mixers square dancing groups. He was a self-taught musician. During the last 40 years, he loved watching his family grow and spending time with his two children, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He leaves a daughter Carol L. and her husband, James McGinley of South Kingstown and a son Brian E. and his wife, Allison Bowen of Auburn, NH, a sister Barbara Szpotowski of Jamestown, 4 grandchildren Scott McGinley, Keith McGinley, Laura Jackson and Greggory Bowen, 6 great grandchildren, Alexander Jackson, William McGinley, Kian McGinley, June Bowen, Freya McGinley and Aiden McGinley, his godchildren Dorothy Miller and Susan Pereira, and his longtime companion, Mary Amore.

Calling hours, for family only, will be held Monday, November 22, 2021 from 8:30am to 10:00am in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at St. Mark Church, Jamestown at 11:00am. A private burial will take place in St. Mark Cemetery, Jamestown.

At the family’s request, donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to Toys for Tots, 386 Broad Street, Providence, RI.
