Sousa, Maria M., 86, formerly of Cranston, passed peacefully Monday (2/22/2016) at RI Hospital. Born in Chas de Tavares, Portugal she was a daughter of the late Alberto and Maria (DeDeus) Fonseca. She came to this country with her late husband Joao de Sousa and settled in Cranston. She was a jewelry worker before retiring in 1993. She leaves 2 daughters; Cecilia C. Ginja of Cranston and Connie M. Videira of Milford, MA, 3 grandchildren, Melissa Videira Cardin, Michael Videira and Christopher Ginja and one great granddaughter, Norah Cardin and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Jose Santos, Joaquim, Antonio, Adriano and Raul Fonseca and Cecilia Matos. Her life will be celebrated with calling hours Thursday 4-7pm in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston. Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 10:00am in St. Matthew Church, Elmwood Avenue, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
