Richard Henderson, 83, of Stephen Hopkins Ct., Providence, Rhode Island died peacefully on Saturday May 27, 2023 at Bannister Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Providence.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 9, 1940 he was the son of the late William and Elvira (Womack) Henderson. “Satch” as he was affectionately known was a lifelong resident of Providence.

Before his retirement Richard was employed by the former Providence Civic Center as an Event Stager. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed playing cards, bantering and having good conversation amongst his friends. Richard’s greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.Richard was always a happy go lucky guy who will certainly be remembered by so many for his wit, warmth and kindness.

He is survived by his son, William E. Taylor of Atlanta, GA, bonus children Anika and Richard Taylor of Providence, RI, and one sister Ardell Randall and her husband Leo of Atlanta, GA. He was the brother of the late Jessie, Donald and Glenda Henderson, Barbara Green and Carol Murphy.

His funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Hope and Memory, Swan Point Cemetery 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence. Visitation starting at 9:30 a.m.
