Gabriel "Gabe" C. Gabriel, 81, passed peacefully Sunday (11/8/2015) at the Morgan Health Center. Born in Providence a son of the late Charles and Catherine (Zommer) Gabriel, he had lived in Cranston with his wife of 61 years, Dolores (Moretti) Gabriel.
Mr. Gabriel had served his country for 8 years with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Gabe was a self-employed carpenter both in Calif. and in RI. After retiring from carpentry he worked with the US Postal Service delivering and picking up mail from the airport for 10 years. He loved going mushrooming, traveling to Old Orchard Beach, ME and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters; Nancy (Wendell) Nolan and Kathy (Paul) Eacuello and a son Steven Gabriel all of Cranston, a brother Joseph Gabriel of South Kingstown, 4 sisters; Margaret Sarkisian and Claire Hogan both of Florida, Lydia Paolino of Warwick and Jane Storms of Niantic, CT and 4 grandchildren. He was the father of the late Lori McGee and brother of the late Michael, John and Charlene Gabriel.
His life will be celebrated with calling hours Wednesday 4-7pm in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday in St George Maronite Catholic Church, 1493 Cranston Street at 10:00am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St Ann Cemetery.
