Born in Providence a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Zuleger) Platt, she had lived In Cranston most of her life, except when she was traveling around the world.Joan was an office manager in the HVAC industry for many years before retiring.

Always the adventurer, she moved to Arizona in 1954 after graduating from Cranston High School. Her parents were none too happy with her, but she went anyway. Joan was the life of every party, with her beautiful clothes, shoes and jewelry, and her hot pink lipstick. She had many dear friends, no one more important than her twin Jane, who passed away ten years ago. They were together more than apart. You could hear them laughing before you entered the room they were in. She was reunited with her parents, older brother Robert Platt, her precious twin Jane Parrella and her younger sister, Dorothy Casale, who passed away in 1982.

She leaves a son Keith (Sharon) Wellman of Ware, MA and 3 grandchildren; Denon Michaels, Donavan Manzaro and Erik Granath.
