Stapleton, Joseph F., 88, of Rumford, RI died Monday (April 27, 2020) at the Orchard View Nursing Home. Born in Pawtucket a son of the late John L. and Abby (Duffy) Stapleton he had lived in California for over 50 years. He moved back to Rhode Island 3 years ago to live with his sister Abbie.

Joe worked for the government for 20 years before moving over to the Hughes Aircraft Industry where he worked for 23 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

Joe and his sister, Abbie and her husband Harry, would travel to many interesting places such as Egypt, Great Britain, Russia etc.

He leaves a sister Abbie Robshaw of East Providence, a brother Francis “Red” (Anna) Stapleton of Warwick, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was brother of the late John Stapleton and Dorothy O’Brien.

His services will be private with a memorial mass in celebration of his life held at a later date when we do not have to be socially distant. Funeral Service and burial with Military Honors will be private from the Stapleton Family Funeral Home.
