Phillip S. Mancini Jr 2/28/2021

Obituaries

Mancini, Jr., Philip S., 82, formerly of Cranston, passed Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Kent County Hospital. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Philip, Sr. and Rita (DeMagistris) Mancini. He grew up in North Providence and lived most of his life in Cranston.

Phil was the Town Engineer in Johnston since 2013, and a Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor in the private sector for over fifty years as the owner of 721 Associates. He attended North Providence High School, then graduated from the University of Rhode Island. He was a Veteran who served in the National Guard as a First Lieutenant. He was a long-time member of the RI Society of Professional Land Surveyors and Past President of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Phil was the Town of Johnston Engineer. “Mr. Phil,” as many lovingly called him, was a deeply kind, warm and caring man. He attended church every Sunday and never missed a St. Mary’s Feast. He enjoyed sports, especially the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics and was an avid sports memorabilia collector. He enjoyed vacationing in Aruba and coastal Maine. However, his first love was his family and his greatest joy was hearing about or seeing his children and grandchildren.

He leaves 2 daughters; Laura A. (Chuck Nishan) Mancini of Merrimac, MA and Dayna A. (George) Mancini-Simmons with whom he lived in West Warwick, a son, Jeffrey (Bella) Mancini of Brooklyn, NY, 2 brothers Michael (Mary) Mancini of Daytona Beach, FL, Stephen (Terry) Mancini of Wickford and Naples, FL, a sister Elaine (Steve) Readey of Richmond, RI and 7 grandchildren, Zane, Violet, Lily and Magnolia Nishan, Paolo and Paloma Mancini and Zoey Simmons.

His life will be celebrated with calling hours Friday in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston from 5 to 8pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary Church, Cranston Street, Cranston, Saturday at 10am. All arrangements guided by the COVID 19 regulations in affect in RI. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his name to the American Veterans Foundation www.rwmc.org.
