Deming, Fred L. passed away peacefully on December 11th, which was his 83rd Birthday. He was married to Jane Greco Deming and had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Fred was the loving rock of his blended family, leaving behind his children Lori E. Meo and her husband Steven, Lynda G. Nikodem, and Robert L. Corrente. He was pre-deceased by daughter Tracey Ann Deming and son James G. Deming. Fred was a wonderful grandfather (Papa) to Henry Meo and Eleanor Meo, Michael and Matthew Nikodem, and Haiden Corrente. He also leaves behind his sister Elizabeth (Sis) Carney and her husband Edward, John Deming and his wife Florence, Walter Deming and his wife Janice, and Robert Deming. He was brother to the late Mary Lang and Florence Sargent. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Before retiring, Fred worked in manufacturing at Greco Brothers, Inc. in Providence for 27 years. As federally licensed wildlife rehabilitators, Fred and his wife Jane rescued, raised, and released hundreds of native animals for over 30 years.
Fred believed in living his life to the fullest and seizing the day. He was always available to lend a hand, be a shoulder to cry on and a soft place to fall. He was the Pied Piper of children and animals. He had a twinkle in his eye that made everyone feel comfortable and a very mischievous personality. His home was everyone's home; always open to friends and family for a meal, a stay, or some sage advice.
His favorite stories were about traveling with the carnival, where he set up Ferris wheels and drove tractor-trailers. He loved fishing with friends, breakfast with the gang, traveling, spending time on Block Island, and working to support animal-related organizations. But, most importantly, he loved being with the people he loved. He was an expert at Love!
To celebrate Fred, we will have visiting hours on Wednesday, December 15h, at Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue in Cranston, RI, from 4pm to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please kindly donate to Continuum Hospice Care at 1350 Division Road, Suite 205, West Warwick, RI 02893. They were by his side everyday for months and treated him with love and care.
