Obituaries

 

 

May Fong Chin, 95, passed peacefully at home Saturday, March 10, 2023. She was born in Toisan, China and emigrated to the United States in 1947 after her marriage to the late David Sang Chin. She was a daughter of the late Lew Han Van and Lee Shung Ngon. May and David were the co-owners of the Mee Hong Restaurant in Providence.

Mrs. Chin was a member of the Beneficent Church in Providence and of the Chinese Christian Church of Rhode Island. She was also a jewelry worker at both Monet Jewelry and Coro Jewelers for many years.

She leaves a daughter, Rose S. (Robert) Chin of West Greenwich and four sons; James K. (Sanita) of Swansea, MA, Edward K. of Greenville, Jackson K. and Bobby K. both of Warwick, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was mother of the late Lillian Chan and sister of the late Lew Dung Chuey.

Her life will be celebrated with calling hours in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston Wednesday from 8:00am to 9:45am, followed by a service at 10:00am. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Harrison Street immediately following.
