Chan, Bock Chew, 85, of West Warwick passed peacefully Sunday, 5/30/2021, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center on North Main Street, Providence. He was born in 1936 in Taishan, Guangdong, China as one of the sons of the late Wing On Chan and Feng Yi (Huang) Chan. Bock Chew was the husband of Yok Yu (Lee) Chan, and they moved to the United States in 1979.

He began his entrepreneurship in the early 1980s in New York’s Chinatown. After moving to RI, he started Eastar Food Company, was a co-owner of Dragon Villa in Lincoln and the Islander Restaurant in Warwick.

Besides his wife he leaves three sons; Young Y (Dong) Chan and Simon N. (Anna) Chan both of Warwick and Ben H. (Ting) Chan of Cranston. A brother Fook Chew Chen and a sister Mei Juan Chen both of Cranston and six grandchildren; Vincent, Pamela, Alex, Jaclyn, Yiuhsi and Yiuhon Chan. He was brother to the late Da Chew Chin and Mei Lan Chen.

His life will be celebrated with visitation on Thursday, June 3rd from 9:00am to 11:00am in the Stapleton Family Funeral Home located at 684 Park Avenue, Cranston. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston, RI.
